Rest and Relaxation

This Thanksgiving weekend has been amazing!! I forgot how nice it is to have a long break from responsibility.

Thanksgiving day was so relaxing- I only left the house to get Starbucks in the morning. My mom, Barb and I hung out for hours, looking through Black Friday ads, watching Baby Mama and just talking.

Friday we took family pictures early then went to Brooke and Josh's to hang out. Dad got doughnuts for us all, and Evie was in a snugly mood and sat on my lap for hours while Brooke, mom and I edited pictures. I kissed her about a million times. Chet was busy making a tightrope, eating marshmallows Grammie snuck him, and making us laugh. The boys were busy watching football. My heart was so full in that moment!!

Today I slept 10 hours. It was AMAZING!!! I had to wake up to let Luna out but I went straight back to bed :) Now Jeremy and I are at Starbucks, reading for a bit then he is working on interview prep and I'm doing some work prep so my Monday is nice and easy :)

I can't believe it's only Saturday!

Plus, my Christmas shopping is 99% done and that feels soooo good. :)

I hope you're enjoying your Thanksgiving weekend too.

Paige

(Please note Jeremy is holding up his soundproof headphones he brought to our Starbucks date lol!)

"A whole new world..."

Sing the song with me... you know you want to!

This is how I feel right now in a totally, nerdy, excited way!!
Do you want to know why???

Because I just took Strengthsfinder 2.0!

*cricket* *cricket*

Ok, let me explain. First week of Freshman year in a terribly useless class called "Beginnings" I took a test along with every other Freshman at APU called "Strengthsfinder."
1) I love personality tests!!!!
2) I love that EVERYONE in the school took the same one! I swear for 3.5 years of my college experience I asked almost everyone I knew, "What are your strengths?" at some point. I find it completely fascinating.

I also promised myself that at the end of college I'd take the test again to see if I had changed. But when college graduation came around $20 seemed like a stretch for a test that could tell me "you're the same."

Here are my old strengths. They're so 2007:
1) Woo
2) Positivity
3) Futuristic
4) Relater
5) Includer

As silly as it is to some, these strengths are important to me. They helped me define myself. I have used them in every interview I've had since college (which have been a LOT) and I really saw my best qualities under the lens of those 5 listed above.

With my current job, my boss is having us all take the test. You can only imagine how excited I have been :) Well, I eagerly answered the million questions and was sure my 5 would be the same.

You could have heard a pin drop when I read my results.

My first thought was in panic, "THIS IS NOT ME!" And I was slightly insulted by the title of one of them... you guess which one...

1. Communication
2. Empathy
3. Individualization ("Oh great, Strengthsfinder, so I'm some selfish person that only thinks about ME?! I hate you and your slightly-accurate-yet-totally-insulting test result that doesn't sound like a STRENGTH!")
4. Positivity
5. Maximizer

Well I eagerly rushed to the "WHAT DOES THIS MEAN ABOUT ME?!?" description and of course my computer froze and died and got rebooted and I *almost* threw it against the wall as I desperately anticipated why I was labeled as "Individualization" by some jerky computer test that probably is totally false...

Anywho, when I frantically calmly read through my descriptions I started to understand my results and really think they are true to who I am. Here are some short descriptions and my thoughts. I even put them in fun colors so you are more inclined to actually read them! Muah ha ha...

1. Communication: I find it easy to put my thoughts into words and I love the give-and-take of a lively discussion. (This was my college major and I loved it, so I agree ;))
2. Empathy: I can easily sense the feelings of others by imagining myself their lives, and situations. (I was initially hesitant to this thinking "What a sap!" but let's face it, I cried in 2 different sermons today when someone told a story in church and then daydreamed the rest of the time as to how that would feel in my life...)
3. Individualization: I'm intrigued with the unique qualities of each person (YES- oddly so!) and I have a gift for figuring out how people who are different can work together productively (I agree)
4. Positivity: :)
5. Maximizer: I like to stimulate personal and group excellence. I know what I'm bad at and what I'm good at. I trust my gut instincts. (Yes. Yes. Yes!)

Not going to lie, after taking a test like this I feel like her:

You should take it too!!!

Christmas Sanity

Last year, like many years before, I was rushed. My week of Christmas was filled with last minute with DIY projects and shopping that followed some failed DIY attempts. I was stressed.

This year I promises myself I'd ENJOY the weeks leading to Christmas. This means:

1. No shopping after the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Donezo. My lists are already made and shopping has already started.
2. Wrap as I go. This eliminates the marathon wrapping nights.
3. Decorations done at Thanksgiving... Or in my case 2 weeks before ;)
4. No DIY projects this year. Not one.
5. Spend the month of December ENJOYING baking and taking pictures of Luna with Christmas hats.

So that's this year in our house! How are you staying sane this season??

Paige

Little things...

It's amazing those little things in life that can bring joy. I found his 2lb bag of sour patch kids at Target and knew that I'd have one happy husband.

Update on bag: 1/2 gone.

Thankful

I am thankful for hilarious moments like this and living by family.

A glimpse of October

Trying out our new camera:

Ok, I'm obsessed.
With both my dog and my backyard. I know.

Luna take a picture with Mommy!! Come here! Stop sniffing!
 Here we go :)
 Love this face!
 That's 90lbs of dog.

 Bad toss on my behalf
 Good catch!

We started the month off with my birthday!
I love my birthday- let's be real.
I celebrated my birthday for about a week- including a trip up to Tahoe for a women's retreat with a few churches.

We took a trip down to LA to hang with family and see good friends Katie and Micah get married!!

Celebrating Grandpa Chief's 71st birthday!

We got to see Liz's new apartment which is my old one (J151)!!! So trippy to be back in a place with so many memories attached!

Breakfast and coffee with sweet Erica!
So happy I got to see Katie and Micah Sulham get married!!!

 Coffee with sweet Becca:)

Had some random moments inbetween the big events:
We ushered in the fall weather and bundled up
 We went on dates
 We bought Christmas decorations!
 We ate
 We chatted
 We learned
 We colored
 We sat there... lol ;)
Used AAA for the first time for a dead battery
Bought TSwift's new album Red thanks to ERICA :)
 Got bangs!

Celebrated Halloween & All Things Fall
I saw this picture (below) of a Ron Swanson pumpkin (his hair and mustache are the black parts) and I did my best to replicate it!!!

Much easier than caramel apples for a group:
1) Slice apples
2) Mix with some lemon or lime juice so they don't go brown
3) Put in a pan and add any and all ingredients, including caramel, fudge, peanuts, M&Ms, chocolate chips, marshmallows, etc.
4) Eat
 (not picturing mom)

Ninja Chet

October flew by and with that we celebrated the birth of my daddy on November 1st!!!
Happy 49th birthday, Dad! I love you so much!!!!!!!
